The All Tribal Rights' Protection Forum Manipur (ATRPFM) has expressed disappointment with the matter pertaining to Delimitation and has appealed all the tribal elected members, leaders and organisations to co-operate with each other.
In a statement, ATRPFM said that MLAS of tribal areas are the representatives of tribal people and should work to safeguard the Constitutional rights of the tribal communities. However, the MLAs have not shown any interest in the (Delimitation) matter, it added.
It also stated that the forum has been pursuing the matter and have submitted representations to the President of India, Prime Minister, Chief Election Commissioner, Chairperson of Delimitation Commission and also to the Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner.
Additionally, ATRPFM organised a consultative meeting at RNBA Centre Church, Tarung on June 30th with about 14 tribal organisations of the State.
As per resolutions adopted during the meeting, a joint memorandum was prepared which is to be submitted to all the concerned authorities.
ATRPFM also asked the MLAs to not avoid meeting tribal leaders using COVID-19 as an excuse and urged all tribal elected members, leaders and organisations to come together to safeguard the rights of the tribal communities.
