In response to the news item carried on July 7 edition (page 7) of this paper under the headline "Farmers are bereft of adequate supply of fertilizers due to Govt's insincere attitude : Ex-MLA", the Directorate of Agriculture has today clarified that urea fertilizer is being issued in the respective district headquarters of all valley districts including Thoubal from June 6, 2020 including all holidays.
Till date 25,161 bags have been distributed in Thoubal district, said the Directorate in a clarification note and added that the State Government is making adequate quantities of urea fertiliser directly available to the farmers in their respective districts.
All the States are facing difficulties in getting urea fertilizer due to the Nationwide lockdown, but in spite of this, Manipur is still getting sufficient quantity due to sincere effort of the Government, it said.
Urea fertilizer is also distributed from Kakching district headquarters from July 7 onwards, it said while maintaining there is no question of farmers bereft of urea fertilizer.
It further said that sufficient quantity of fertilizer is available and is distributed daily from respective district headquarters through District Agriculture Officers and their field staff under the strict supervision of the Agriculture Minister.
The State Government is fully committed to make adequate/sufficient quantities of urea fertilizer available to all needy farmers of the State, it continued.
