JIRIBAM, Jul 7: A mass rally was staged today by the Apunba Jiribam Meira Paibi (AJMP), Women Association for Economic Development (WASED), Jiribam Ima Women Association of Kangleipak (JIMWAK), Women Welfare of Kangleipak (WWOK) and Jiri Keithel Chaokhat Thourang Ima Lup (JKCTHL) from PWD Colony to National Highway, demanding the local MLA to step down from his post.
Speaking to media persons, AJMP president S Sushila Devi stated that after VDF and police personnel posted in the district had tested positive for COVID-19, many appeals were made for a mass testing of all frontline workers deployed at Jiribam Railway Station.
However, the local MLA turned a deaf ear to the pleas, she said and added that the mass rally was jointly held by the 5 associations after the lack of response from MLA Asab Uddin.
On July 4 and 5,  a team led by doctor Rajo had promised to open a COVID Care Centre  in Jiribam, however people are disappointed as there is no sign of work on the matter till date, they asserted.
