9 more Jiri cops test positive

IMPHAL, Jul 6 : Nine more personnel of Jiribam district police have been tested positive for COVID-19 taking the total number of positive police personnel to 36.
Meanwhile, it is said that a medical team equipped with rapid testing kits would fly to Jiribam in a helicopter tomorrow.
After an ASI of Jiribam district police was found COVID-19 positive, 27 police and VDF personnel too tested positive. Subsequently, samples of other police personnel posted in the district were collected and their testing began today at RIMS.
According to information received from Health Department, nine of the samples collected from Jiribam district police personnel tested positive today.
After confirmation of cluster transmission among Jiribam district police personnel, the entire district has been kept under complete lockdown till July 15.
A medical team equipped with rapid antigen test would leave Imphal for Jiribam tomorrow. A Bolero jeep loaded with PPE and masks would also leave for Jiribam
On the other hand, 15,000 rapid testing kits arrived at Imphal today. 
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Kh Sasheekumar informed that the recovery rate from COVID-19 in the State is 52.80 per cent.
While the number of active cases as of Monday is 656, 734 people have recovered from the contagion.
A total of 45 people who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours. Four of them were discharged from CCC Meitram, 21 from CCC Tamenglong, six from RIMS and 14 from      JNIMS.
On the other hand, 24 people (seven females, 17 males) tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS (9) and JNIMS (15) during the last 24 hours.
12 of them belong to Senapati, nine to Jiribam and three to Imphal East.
