Murder accused remanded

IMPHAL, Jul 7: A 36-year-old man accused of killing his wife has been remanded to police custody for four days by the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West yesterday.
The accused identified as Ajay Das, s/o (L) Sorendra of  Phullarton Silchar, at present staying at a rented house at Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai, had allegedly stabbed his wife with a knife on July 5 at around 9.30 pm at the rented house.
Producing the accused in the Court, Investigating Officer (IO) of the case through APP submitted that the mother-in-law of the accused had lodged a written complaint to Imphal Police Station alleging that his son-in-law (accused) allegedly stabbed her daughter to death at around 9.30 pm of July 5. The wife was stabbed on her back and was evacuated to RIMS casualty for treatment, but was declared brought dead by the doctors. The accused husband was arrested by police on the same day from RIMS casualty. Police also recovered the murder weapon, a kitchen knife from the incident site, submitted the IO in the Court.
On preliminary interrogation, the accused husband admitted to have committed the crime, claimed the IO seeking police custody remand for further investigation.
The Court, after hearing the submission of IO of the case, remanded the accused to 4 days police remand till July 9.
