TNL lockdown ends, night
Ukhrul, Jul 7 : The seven days total lockdown, which was enforced on July 1 in all Tangkhul villages by Tangkhul Co-ordination Committee on Covid-19 (TCFC-19) under the aegis of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) ended today, reports our correspondent.
With the end of the lockdown, normal daily activities will resume from tomorrow but there is yet another public curfew which has been called from 5 pm to 6 am everyday. The curfew will remain in force in all Tangkhul villages until further orders.
In a statement, TNL president Hopingson A Shimray said that the lockdown was enforced for the benefits of the Tangkhul community adding that the main objective of imposing the total lockdown was to check the spread of coronavirus.
The TNL went on to mention that Ukhrul saw the highest number of returnees among the hill districts of Manipur, and all the positive cases have come from the returnees. Kamjong and Ukhrul are today in a vulnerable state and any margin of error can lead to community transmission, added the TNL president.  Over 160 persons have tested Covid-19 positive and more than 55 persons have recovered in Ukhrul.
