CM inaugurates water supply projects, others

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated five Water Supply projects, one office building of Weight and Measures Department and Rapid Antigen Detection Testing Centre at Jiribam through video conferencing from his Secretariat office today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed that with a strong commitment, the Government was able to complete and inaugurate the projects within stipulated time period.
The Chief Minister said that the New Development Bank has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore to provide potable water to every household of the State. All the necessary processes including tenders, issue of work order etc have been completed and the State Government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony which will be held shortly, he added appealing to the CSOs, people and others concerned not to create any hindrance in the developmental activities being taken up in the State.
Mentioning about the COVID-19 situation in the State, N Biren said that the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has surpassed 53 percent and there is no casualty so far in the State. He mentioned that people should take all precautionary measures and abide by all the protocols and SOPs issued by the Health Ministry and Government to fight the disease.
With the inauguration of Rapid Antigen Detection Centre in Jiribam, the Chief Minister said that it will help in early detection of coronavirus infection and quick diagnosis. He said that the testing facility will also be made available to other districts of the State very soon. Around 15,000 rapid testing kits have been supplied to the State Government till now, he added.
Regarding the opening of COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Jiribam district, the Chief Minister stated that the Government has not taken any decision to convert the Jiribam District Hospital into a CCC. However, the Government is planning to open a CCC in the district so that the coronavirus infected patients can be treated at the district itself.
Minister for PHE Losii Dikho said that the Government is committed to providing potable water to all the households of the State by the year 2022.
He mentioned that with the cooperation of the people, the construction of the Water Supply Scheme for Churachandpur was completed eight months before the stipulated time period.
He also appreciated the implementing agency viz SPML Infra Ltd, Kolkatta for their dedication in completing the work before the stipulated time period. He appealed the people of the State for support and cooperation in developmental activities taken up by the Government.
Mention may be made that the Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (15.89 MLD-million litres per day) at Koirengei was constructed at a cost of Rs 8.58 crore.  The construction  was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (0.80 ML) i/c Pumping Station at Sangakpham was constructed at a cost of Rs 4.44 crore. The construction was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2019.
The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (Water Treatment Plant (9.08 MLD) at Canchipur was constructed at a cost of Rs 6.10 crore.  The construction was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Water Supply Scheme at Heingang Awang Leikai was constructed at a cost of Rs 5.88 crore.  The construction of the 0.384 MLD capacity project was started in August 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Water Supply distribution network for Churachandpur for promoting tourism under NESIDS was constructed at a cost of Rs 2339.36 lakh.  The construction was started in February 2019 and completed in June 2020.
The office building of Controller of Legal Metrology and R&D Centre, Lamphel was constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore during 2018-19.
