IMPHAL, Jul 8: The Trained Nurses' Association of India (TNAI), Manipur State Branch has urged the State Government to release their due DA and other entitled allowances as per the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.
Endorsing the demands of the Manipur State Government Services Federation, the TNAI State branch pointed out that the nurses are performing their duties amid the COVID-19 pandemic with dedication. "It is very unfortunate that the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur had issued an order on July 6 invoking the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the sole purpose of which seems to be to disrupt/disturb/discontinue the employees from demanding their dues (payment/allowances)," said the association in a statement.
While nurses working under the Mizoram Government are getting Rs 6,000 monthly allowance, nurse under Manipur Govt are getting only Rs 2,000 monthly allowance, said TNAI State branch seeking State Govt's immediate attention to the issue and negotiate a possible solution to the legitimate demands of the nurses, especially considering the COVID-19 pandemic. The nurses fraternity will be compelled to launch "extreme form of protest" if their demands are not heard, said TNAI.
