Delhi agreement implement
By Our Staff Reporter
IMPHAL, Jul 8 : Even though it has been two weeks since the NPP seemingly patched up differences with the BJP and returned to the BJP led coalition Government, following intervention of BJP president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, NPP president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, the State unit of the NPP held a meeting along with its four MLAs today to discuss the unfolding political scenario.
A source close to the NPP MLAs said that even though a broad agreement has been reached with the top BJP leaders including its president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and NPP president Conrad Sangma two weeks back, it cannot be said that all the agreements have been implemented.
The somewhat fluid political situation is because the broad agreements reached with the BJP Central leaders have not been translated into action till now, added the source.
There is however no condition such as that the Home portfolio should be given to Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, said the source and explained that what was discussed was that one between Home and Finance should be given to the Deputy Chief Minister.
The source added that after the meeting with the BJP leaders, the four NPP MLAs also met Chief Minister N Biren on their return to Imphal. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Conrad Sangma were also present at the meeting, added the source.
It is to discuss the unfolding political scenario and the developments since the return of the four NPP MLAs to Imphal that the meeting was held today, said the source.
Though no details were spelt out, the source said that today's meeting broadly agreed to wait for about one week and convey the political situation to Conrad Sangma who will also be urged to talk things over with the BJP Central leadership.  Another source said that  Conrad Sangma is expected to arrive at Imphal soon and the political situation will be discussed along with the State NPP leaders and MLAs.
Despite the degree of uncertainty and the failure to implement the agreements reached at Delhi, the four NPP Ministers are dispensing with their duties, said the source.
