IMPHAL, Jul 8: Session Judge Imphal granted interim anticipatory bail till July 16 to MLA Keisham Meghachandra, MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar and Huidrom Vikramjit, managing director of HVS Construction Material Private Limited, over a complaint filed by ex-MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, Soibam Subhaschandra with the Patsoi Police Station.
Ex-MLA S Subhaschandra had filed the complaint alleging that he was "forcefully confined at the Congress camp at Patsoi from June 17 till June 23 and during the confinement he was physically and mentally tortured compelling him to sign a resignation letter under extreme duress." In the complaint, he claimed he was "pushed and slapped on the face by the petitioners", submitted the ex-MLA.
The Counsel further submitted that on June 17, Soibam Subhashchandra along with two other BJP MLAs, Samuel Jendai and TT Haokip joined the camp of the Congress party at the house of Huidrom Vikramjit at Patsoi after resigning from the primary membership of BJP and tendering their resignation as MLAs. They were enrolled as members of Indian National Congress.
The Counsel further alleged that S Subhashchandra joined the camp of the Congress party "on his own will" and the petitioners, Keisham Meghachandra, Thokchom Lokeshwar and Huidrom Vikramjit have no connection with Subhashchandra's resignation.
The Court  after hearing, granted interim anticipatory bail to the petitioners, K Meghachandra, Th Lokeshwar and H Vikramjit till July 16. And in the event of the arrest of the petitioners in connection with the FIR, they shall be released on interim bail on execution of PR bond of 1 lakh with one surety of the like amount and on the condition that they cooperate with the investigation.
The Court fixed July 16 for the next hearing and directed the Officer in Charge Patsoi Police Station to submit a detailed report on or before the next date of hearing.
