Section 144 CrPC imposed in Haluapara to trace contacts

SHILLONG, Aug 21: After two people tested positive for COVID-19 at Haluapara locality in Resubelpara, the District Magistrate of North Garo Hills in Meghalaya has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC so as to allow the process of contact tracing to start besides other preventive measures to be put in place. Haluapara locality has already been declared a containment zone for 5 days, with effect from the evening of August 20 till the evening of August 25.
As per the order, all the inhabitants within the containment zone area shall strictly remain inside their houses.
Medical teams, Magistrates, police and government officials on official duty shall be allowed to enter the containment zone. Further, all shops within Haluapara will be closed immediately and the supply of essential commodities will be ensured through various teams formed by the District Administration. The District Magistrate has also informed that no social, political, religious and economic activity is allowed.
