Shillong, Aug 5 :  Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded 22 new Covid-19 cases, the Health department informed.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr informed that in the last 24-hours, Meghalaya recorded 22 fresh COVID- 19 cases out of which 19 civilians are from East Khasi Hills, one Border Security Force (BSF) personnel is from West Garo Hills and another two civilians are from South West Garo Hills.
Dr. Warr also informed that of the 19 cases in East Khasi Hills, 16 are high risk contacts of various COVID-19 patients in Shillong which includes cases from Nongrim Hills, Laitumkhrah, Mawlai Kynton Massar and Malki, while three others are returnees.
Meanwhile, the State has 595 total active cases of COVID-19 out of which East Khasi Hills accounting for 487 of them. These include 188 BSF personnel, 241 civilians and 58 from the armed forces.
West Khasi Hills has five cases 0f COVID-19, Ri-Bhoi-51, West Jaiñtia Hills - 16, East Jaiñtia Hills - 17, West Garo Hills - 15, South West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills two each.
The total number of recovered cases of COVID-19 as on Wednesday is nine.
The state now has a total of 339 recovered cases.
Meanwhile, the number of samples sent for testing till Wednesday afternoon is 39,553, out of which 38, 062 samples yielded negative cases and the reports of 552 samples are awaited.
A total of 25588 people have so far entered Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister also informed that NEIGHRIMS is working to complete the setting up of a plasma bank for the interest of Meghalaya and entire Northeastern states.
