Financial assistance under MSJWS provided to journalist

Financial assistance under the Manipur State Journalists Welfare Scheme (MSJWS), Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur was provided to Sorensangbam Soniya Devi, reporter, Poknapham Daily, yesterday at DIPR Office Complex, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
A cheque amounting to Rs one lakh only for medical treatment was handed over to the beneficiary L Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director (HQ), DIPR  and T Sangeeta, APO, (Press), DIPR.
The scheme was launched formally on June 30, 2017, at City Convention Centre, Imphal by the Chief Minister as part of the important programme of the new Government’s 100 day’s achievement.
For the scheme, the Government made a contribution of Rs 10 crore towards the Corpus Fund of the Manipur State Journalists Welfare Scheme on  May 5, 2017. The scheme provides one time financial/medical assistance to Journalists and their families.
So far, seventeen (17) media persons have availed financial assistance under the scheme since its inception.
