Awareness drive

IMPHAL, Sep 18: Manipur Police Department continue to raise awareness campaign against  illicit poppy/ganja cultivation and drugs issues in Manipur as another meeting was conducted at Police Headquarters (PHQ), Manipur with 11 village chiefs of Kangpokpi district under Sagolmang police station and Maphou Dam police station of Imphal East district.
The meeting was chaired by LM Khaute, Director General of Police, Manipur in the presence of other senior police officers namely, Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, IPS, Addl Director General of Police (Int); K Jayenta Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Zone- I; K Radhashyam Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Int/NAB), H Jogeshchandra Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District, and W Basu Singh, MPS, Superintendent of Police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border, Manipur.
In the said meeting, wide-ranging strategies were discussed for containment of illicit poppy/ganja cultivation and drug issues. It was a fruitful meeting, a source said. Such a meeting and interaction with the village chief(s) will continue in future also, it said.
