Car mishap claims three

IMPHAL, Sep 18: Three youths died and two were critically injured when a car they were riding in allegedly skidded off the road along the Imphal-Ukhrul road this afternoon.
According to reliable information from the police, police received information of a red car heading toward Imphal meeting with an accident on Imphal-Ukhrul road under Heingang Police station at around 2.20 pm.
The accident is suspected to have occurred when the car went out of control and skidded off the road before hitting a roadside nasik (eucalyptus) tree. The vehicle was badly damaged and all (five)of the occupants including the driver were seriously injured and were evacuated to JNIMS hospital for treatment. But two out of the five occupants, identified as Tekcham Sohen (16) son of Pishak of Ayangpalli Mutum Leikai and Gurumayum Bruce Sharma (18) son of Santosh of Ayangpalli leima Keithel were declared brought dead by the doctors on duty at JNIMS hospital.
Another youth identified as B Nelson Sharma (18), son of Nilachandra of Khurai Thangjam Leikai who was admitted in serious condition later succumbed to his injury at around 6.30 pm at JNIMS hospital.
The other two youths identified as Phijam Ronil (18), son of Ramananda of Soibam Leikai Ahongei and G Devson Sharma (18), son of Bhagat of Bamon Leikai are undergoing treatment in critical condition at JNIMS hospital.
The bodies are kept at JNIMS mortuary for post mortem.
Heingang police have registered a suo moto case under FIR number 55 (9) 2020 Heingang Police Station under section 279/338/427 IPC for further investigation.
