IMPHAL, Sep 18 : Publicity campaign conducted by the People's Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) at crowded and market places in and around Imphal areas went on as public started seemingly neglecting the safety guidelines and norms issued in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the State.
In a statement, PTFC-19 expressed concern over the growing dangerous scenarios as the proportionate rise in deaths due to the virus continues unabated.
The State has entered the community transmission phase and as earlier the situation cannot be contained unless the people strictly adhere to guidelines issued by the authorities concerned, it said and at the same time asked the State Government to take up necessary control measures appropriate to the stage of the transmission.
PTFC-19 also reacted to the relaxations put in place in line with the Unlock-4 saying that it is untimely.
It also denounced the State Government alleging that Ministers and Chief Minister himself are flouting COVID-19 SOPs by attending by-poll meetings where crowds hardly maintaining physical distance and other safety measures can be seen. PTFC-19 will be approaching authorities concerned against those violating the guidelines and ask for relevant and befitting actions and punishments as per the Disaster Management Act, it said.
Today, PTFC-19 conducted their publicity and awareness campaigns at RIMS road, Lamphel Super Market, Thangal Keithel, Paona Keithel and GP Women's College, it said. In association with Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch; Indian Medical Association and Association for Health Care Providers of India PTCF also conducted awareness campaigns at Top Khongnang Makhong Mamang Leikai community hall, Khumbong Keithel, Sagoltongba Chongtham Leikai community hall, Longa Koireng community hall, Leikham Mandop at Kongpal Khaidem Leikai with the assistance of local clubs, women organisations and COVID-19 Task Force units, it added.
