COVID-19 death toll climb

IMPHAL, Sep 19: Three more COVID-19 positive persons died during the last 24 hours pushing the death toll to 55.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, two residents of Imphal West district aged 80 and 57 died at RIMS whereas a 65-year old man from Thoubal succumbed to the virus at JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
All the three victims were said to be suffering from co-morbid health conditions.
Two employees of a vernacular daily newspaper (Huieyen Lanpao) have also tested positive while at Sajirok in Imphal West 14 persons have tested positive. Thoubal continues to bear the brunt of the virus with another nine people testing positive via Rapid Antigen Test.
In the meantime, 117 people including one CAPF personnel were tested positive during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Senapati, Remedy Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Advance Hospital, Babina Diagnostics and Jiribam.
Of the 116 civilians who have been tested positive for the contagion, 38 belong to Imphal West, 24 to Thoubal, eight to Churachandpur, 33 to Imphal East, one to Jiribam, two to kakching, eight to Bishnupur and two to Senapati. Out of them, 111 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 94 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (7), JNIMS (14), CCC UNACCO (6), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (29), CCC Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (1) and CAPF (35) after they were found COVID-19 free.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has risen to 9724 (general population 6797, Central security personnel 1927) including 1946 active cases (general population 1633, Central security personnel 3130).
So far, 6723 people (general population 5112, Central security personnel 1611) have recovered from COVID-19.
 The recovery rate stands at 77.06 per cent.
Meanwhile, a sub-committee headed by the Health Director as Chairman has been constituted to look after treatment of COVID-19.
Apart from supervising and guiding hospitals on COVID-19 treatment, the sub-committee would provide feedbacks/suggestions on the pandemic, informed a source.
