Ukhrul, Sep 19: The 36 villages of MGNREGS Association of Phungyar block, Kamjong district is peeved at the concern SDO's failure to provide work demand of MGNREGS job card holders in spite of 100 days employment guarantee.
According to the press statement issued by Phungyar block villages MGNREGS Association, 36 villages under Phungyar block had been deprived from MGNREGS employment benefit, sanctioned only 4 man-days of work for the entire villages during the month of May 2020, whereas the sanctioned man-days for Kasom block was 14, Sahamphung block 14 man-days while  Kamjong Block was more than 40 man-days.
Ngatannmi Hungyo, secretary of the MGNREGS Association, stated that some of the aggrieved Headmen queried the matter to the SDO of Phungyar about disparity and injustice of man-days generation.
However, they were disappointed with the response of the officers who said that all the 36 Villages were uniformly unable to create job liabilities, that was the major reason to limit in sanctioned work man-days for MGNREGS job card holders of the block.
The Phungyar villages MGNREGS Committee were not informed in time for  training on how to create create job liabilities, it stated.
The technical failure at MIS section of DRDA, Ukhrul should not hinder in the implementation of 100 days MGNREGS employment for the rural peoples.
Such flimsy excuses from the office is not acceptable to them stated Ngatannmi.
The block officers, who were monitoring MGNREGS must ensure to recover the lapsed days of 36 villages and regenerate the work demand.
According to their reports, altogether  19 days for the financial year 2019-20 were entitled for the MGNREGS workers.
Phungyar villages MGNREGS Association has demanded 100 days of work, failing which they will pursue for legal procedures against the block officers, and further highlight the incompetent performance of the office to the Central Government for necessary intervention.
