Repair Saparmeina-Saikul road within a week: KISG, KSO

Sep 19: Once one of the finest inter-district road in Kangpokpi
district, the Saparmeina-Saikul road has now become a threat to
commuters with its deplorable and ghoulish condition despite.
The 15
kms (approx) road between Saparmeina and Ekou, passing through Konghom
area and comprising more than 30/40 villages, connect Kangpokpi
District Headquarters with Saikul Sub Divisional Headquarters and other
parts of Saikul areas.
Despite its deplorable condition, it still
remains a busy road with light to heavy vehicles were seen plying all
through the day.
The road is also passing through an important tourism spot, the Eco Tourism Park at Thangal Surung.
Considering
the plight of the people, the Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and Kuki
Students’ Organization (KSO) Saikul had a joint inspection of the road
today and has drawn the attention of the local MLA, concerned PWD
Department and the State Government in repairing the lifeline of
thousand people of Saikul area.
The inspection team led by Seimang Lupho, president, KISG witnessed myriad of deep potholes decorating almost the entire road.
Kuki
Inpi Saikul Gamkai president, Seimang Lupho said that enraged denizens
of Saikul and its surrounding have been pressing hard the CSOs of Saikul
in connection with the pathetic road condition since the past few
months.
The bodies have therefore urged the local MLA, concerned PWD
department and State Government to immediately repair the road within a
week, failing which, the local MLA, concerned PWD department and State
Government shall be held responsible for any eventuality, he added.
Meanwhile,
L Tongkholen Khongsai, executive member of BJP ST Morcha, also Chief of
L Loujol village, expressed discontentment over the pathetic condition
of Saparmeina-Saikul road and conveyed solidarity with the people.
