UPF Wakha Local Council formed

IMPHAL, Sep 19: Under the aegis of the United Peoples' Front (UPF) head office, a local council of the body for Wakha village of Imphal East district was formed.
Office bearers for the newly formed council called Wakha Local Council, were also appointed for a term of 3 years.
The newly appointed office bearers are Thokchom Sanjit Singh as local president, Naorem Doren Singh as local vice president, Naorem Premjit Singh as local secy gen amongst others, along with 42 executive members who were also appointed. To combat the issue of drugs and intoxicating substance abuse in the State, members of the body resolved to keep a check on drug use and banned the selling of all intoxicating substances within Wakha village.
The body also appealed to the people of the area to refrain from using or selling such substances and sought their support in the works and activities undertaken by them.
