World Zero Emission Day observed

KAKCHING, Sep 20: The World Zero Emission Day 2020 was observed at Samaram today under the joint aegis of Samaram Maning Leikai Youth Club, Pradhan O Indira Devi and Lions Clubs of Kakching Greater, by conducting a tree plantation drive in the area.
World Zero Emission Day is held annually on September 21. The president of Lions Clubs of Kakching Greater, Naorem Munal Meitei, during the programme stated that the exhaustive consumption of fossil fuel by the power sector, industries and automobile sector has resulted in depletion of natural resources and degradation of the environment, and these adverse affects are felt everywhere.
Emissions from these industries has greatly polluted our environment he said and added that people everywhere should make a conscious effort to reduce use of fossil fuels.
Stating that the tree plantation drive was organised to contribute to a greener and cleaner environment, Munal Meitei appealed all to plant a tree in observance of World Zero Emission Day.
