IMPHAL, Sep 20: The DIET Employees Association (DEA) has alleged that rules were blatantly flouted when a Lecturer placed in the 50th position in the seniority list was appointed as the Principal in-charge of DIET Imphal East.
The particular Lecturer was appointed as the Principal in-charge of DIET Imphal East by an order issued by SCERT on September 18 this year.
Earlier, the DEA appealed to the authority concerned repeatedly to Principals in-charge on the basis of seniority, according to a press release issued by the association.
It categorically asserted that appointment of the particular Lecturer who was placed in the 50th position of seniority list as Principal in-charge after skipping all other Lecturers who are placed above him and fulfil necessary criteria was not the right step. The eligibility criteria for appointment of Principal clearly mentions that he/she should hold Masters Degree with 55 per cent marks with MEd/MA (Education). But the particular Lecturer is only an MSc/BEd and the marks he secured in MSc was also below 55 per cent, the DEA alleged. It then appealed to the authority concerned to stay and cancel the order whereby the particular Lecturer was appointed as Principal in-charge of DIET, Imphal East else there would be a big uproar.
