Meghalaya death toll reaches 51

Shillong, Sep 30 : With the death of four elderly people due to COVID-19, the death toll in Meghalaya has now gone up to 51 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya reported 176 new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, taking the total infection count to 5,641 of which 1,615 are active cases.
In East Khasi Hills, 113 people tested positive for COVID-19, 30 from West Garo Hills, 18 from Ri Bhoi, 11 from South West Garo Hills and 1 case each from East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
A total of 37 patients have recovered from COVID-19 which include 21 from West Garo Hills, 11 from Ri Bhoi, 3 from East Khasi Hills and 2 from South West Garo Hills.
Furthermore, 9 more patients have recovered in West Garo Hills, 4 in East Jaintia Hills, 3 in East Garo Hills.
“Till date, swab samples of 1,50,809 persons have been sent for testing of which 1,45,170 were found to be negative,” according to an official.
Meghalaya has detected a total of 5,641 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,615 are active, 3,975 recovered and 51 deaths.
In the State, East Khasi Hills has the highest positive cases with 1,052 infections that include 48 armed and paramilitary forces and 1,004 civilians, followed by East Jaintia Hills with 213, West Garo Hills with 163, and 103 cases in Ri Bhoi.
In the other districts, 24 cases are in North Garo Hills, 22 in South West Garo hills, 12 in West Jaintia Hills, 11 in East Garo Hills, 9 in West Khasi Hills, 4 in South West Khasi Hills and 2 in South Garo Hills.
As of today, 42,710 registered people have entered the State.
