DIMAPUR, Jan 10: The NSCN (IM) has refuted the report that an NSCN (IM) cadre was arrested with a pistol in Arunachal Pradesh, reports NNN.
In a statement on Sunday, the outfit accused the Assam Rifles (AR) of targeting the former "again for no reason".
According to the NSCN (IM) one NSCN cadre 2nd lieutenant, Panphung Pangsa of Votnu village under Wancho Region, Longding district, Arunachal Pradesh, was on medical leave. "The 6th AR came to raid his house at around 9 pm on January 9 when he was alone and arrested him," alleged the NSCN (IM), adding, "Nothing incriminating was found with him". But the NSCN (IM) alleged that Assam Rifles gave out a false report that a .32 mm pistol was found in his possession along with live rounds with baseless allegations against him. "These sorts of unfounded stories are always put on any NSCN cadre AR could lay its hands on," the NSCN (IM) alleged. It added, "For the AR, a little bit of humanity and sensitivity could have gone a long way to avoid any acrimony with the public and the NSCN".
