IMPHAL, Jan 13 : The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur has locked the office of the Secretary and Controller of Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM).
DESAM had taken the step denouncing authorities concerned and Government’s failure to fill the vacant posts (Secretary and Controller of Examination), said Leishangthem Lamyanba, secretary general of the student body at BOSEM campus today.
Speaking to media persons, Lamyanba said the posts of the Secretary and Controller of Examination of the BOSEM had been lying vacant since December 28 after the expiry of their tenure on December 27.
Class X examination is in the corner and a new academic session 2021-2022 is about to start. At this juncture, the BOSEM has to prepare revised syllabus and oversee the processes for HSLCE (High School Leaving Certificate Examination) 2020. The vacancies have not only been hindering the functioning of the board but also affecting students and schools and DESAM has been urging the authorities concerned and the Government to fill the vacant posts, he said.
CBSE has released the tentative examination schedule and about 19 States have taken decision to partially open schools in view of improving COVID-19 situation and impending Class X and XII examinations. Schools in the State may soon open as the (Covid) situation improves and as such the Government and the authorities concerned should fill the key posts at the earliest, Lamyanba said.
Locking the offices was the first step. DESAM will be forced to launch a series of agitation if the Government remains adamant to its appeal, he added.
