The Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Tengnoupal, in a press release issued today, has appealed to the CSOs concerned to stop  'harassing' former ADC Chandel Chairman Lhukhosei Zou in regard to 2018 drugs haul case.
Also appealing to the State Government not to appeal Lhukhosei Zou case for reinvestigation, KCA cautioned of launching agitation with the support of tribal bodies if the Government fails to heed the demand.
"The KCA is shocked to learn that, despite appeals from  various quarters to stop further maligning Lukhosei Zou, some valley based CSOs continue ist sinister design of targeting a tribal by demanding re-investigation of the already settled case," it asserted.
Saying that those who were found guilty in the case have already been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and at the same time acquitted Lhukhosei Zou and five others as they were found innocent, it added that the same CSOs who demanded speedy and fair trial are now challenging the Court ruling.
This clearly shows their ulterior motive of targeting  the former ADC Chairman, it claimed and appreciated the Court concerned for performing its duty sincerely and diligently during the trial of the case.
The KCA also stated that some groups are taking this advantage to damage the image and reputation of the N Biren led Government.
Meanwhile, several Moreh based CSOs have appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh not to appeal Lhukhosei Zou's case.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh; Kuki Women Union and Human Rights Moreh; Tamil Sangam, Moreh; Manipuri  Muslim Council, Moreh and Gurkha Samaj Sewa Samiti, Manipur said that targeting a leader of Moreh Town by some valley based CSOs is very much unwelcomed.
"They (the CSOs) should not take law in their own hands and if they are very much keen to appeal Lhukhosei Zou's case, let them appeal for other cases as well," it added.
It also said that these valley based CSOs are instigated to agitate by vested individual political rivals and some opposition political parties to accuse the present BJP led Government of Manipur.
