IMPHAL, Jan 15: Schools and colleges which have been closed on account of the COVID-19 pandemic since March last year would be re-opened from January 27. A decision to this effect was adopted at a Cabinet meeting held today at Kamjong.
A Facebook post uploaded by Chief Minister  N Biren said that the State Cabinet has given its consent for re-opening classes for standard IX and above by observing relevant SOP.
The Cabinet meeting held at Kamjong for the first time gave consent to the State Election Commission for holding elections to Autonomous District Councils and urban local bodies.
After reviewing the preparations for the upcoming Statehood Day observation, the State Cabinet decided to celebrate the day with certain restrictions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet also approved rules governing Manipur Private Security Services for providing private security to cash transportation activities, rules for banning unregulated deposit schemes, and the Manipur Human Rights Commission Service Rule.
Significantly the Assam Government had decided to reopen schools for all classes from January 1, 2021 on December 15 itself while in Meghalaya schools had re-opened a few days back, that is on January 11.
The Nagaland Government on the other hand had decided to re-open schools from February.
