IMPHAL, Jan 15: The Sangai Express owner, Nishikant Singh Sapam has provided one 500 litre capacity water storage tank each to 41 below poverty line households of 27 localities (Leikai) today.
He distributed the water storage tanks to members of the households at a function held at Anoubam Mandap, Thouda Bhabok Leikai Sega Road organised by Tengbang Marup Keishamthong today.
At the event, Nishikant said he provided the aid with the aim to help people who are in need. All possible assistance will be provided in future too with the cooperation and blessings of the people, he added.
Soraisam Keshoram, who presided over the function said Nishikant has been providing aid and assisting people in need since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides providing relief materials and monetary assistance to many, he has also built houses for people who couldn’t afford one. It is the pride of the locals that he (Nishikant) was born at Thouda Bhabok Leikai, he said. He further stated that Nishikant has been bearing the costs of preserving Sangais (brow antlered deers) at the zoo and providing monthly honoraria to tourist guides at Keibul Lamjao National Park.
Guest of honour of the function, Dr Hamom Nabachandra, former Chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, expressed hope that the Tengbang Marup will provide means of earning income to the poor in the Leikais in future.
Keisham Kumudini of Keishampat Keisham Leikai who attended the function appealed to all to cooperate and help Nishikant help others in need.
