Photo electoral rolls for 60 ACs released

IMPHAL, Jan 15: Updated photo electoral rolls for all the 60 Assembly Constituencies of the State were released today by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) concerned.
Briefing media persons at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Lamphelpat today, Joint CEO Ramananda Nongmeikapam declared that photo electoral rolls of all the 60 Assembly segments have been released.
He said that the photo electoral rolls released today can be accessed from the offices of respective EROs, AEROs, district headquarters, polling stations, BLOs or the website of CEO Manipur.
Ramananda said that the electoral rolls released today are inclusive of new voters who were added in the course of special summary revision done from November 16 to December 15 last year.  
During the special summary revision, 50,533 people submitted Form No 6 applied for enlistment in the electoral rolls. Out of these total applications, 47,301 were approved while the rest were rejected, he said.
Further, 11,855 number of Form No 7 were also submitted for deletion of voters who had expired or shifted elsewhere following marriage. Out of them, 11,042 were approved.
The State’s total number of polling stations has now been increased to 2,894.
Informing that a large number of electoral forms were submitted online in accordance with an instruction from the Election Commission of India and in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Joint CEO appealed to all the people to  make use of the online facility in future too. After verification of the lists furnished by BLOs and Health Department, 7,857 people with disability (PWD) have been marked in the photo electoral rolls released today, Ramananda said. Informing that there would be continuous updation of the electoral rolls starting from tomorrow, he appealed to all concerned to approach the authorities if any PWD has not been marked in the electoral rolls.
Saying that more than 20,000 young citizens in the age group of 18-19 have been enlisted in the electoral rolls for the first time, Ramananda informed that Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) would be distributed to the newly enrolled voters at the National Voters’ Day which would be observed on January 25.
In line with a new initiative of the ECI, printable e-EPIC would be made downloadable from any place and the same would be launched on the National Voters Day, he added.
