IMPHAL, Jan 17: The State Government led by BJP is keen to hold elections to Autonomous District Councils as well as urban local bodies as soon as possible, said BJP Manipur Pradesh president S Tikendra.
He was speaking at a one-day political awareness cum training programme held today at Mantripukhri Bengali Colony under the aegis of BJP Wangkhei Mandal and BJP Cooperative Cell.
S Tikendra pointed out that the State Cabinet has already asked the State Election Commission to start due preparations for the ADC and ULB elections.
All members of BJP need to understand the party’s literature, constitution, philosophy, convention and tradition. Simple enrolment or acquiring membership of the party is not enough, asserted the party’s State unit president.
A State-level executive committee meeting of BJP would be held on January 27 and it would be opened by BJP National president JP Nadda through video conference. This would be followed by district-level executive meetings one week later, Tikendra said.
Later, mandal level meetings would be held in all the 60 Assembly segments. Moreover, the party is planning to organise a huge booth sammelan of all polling booths, he said.
He informed that BJP National spokesperson and Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra would arrive here tomorrow.
He would visit Tamenglong and halt a night there. Sambit Patra would also launch some key programmes of the party, Tikendra said.
MAHUD Minister Okram Henry conveyed gratitude to the people of Wangkhei AC for their continued support even after he has shifted his allegiance from Congress to BJP.
