CCpur, Jan 18 : Local sub-contractors engaged in constructing NH 102B, Lamjang to Singngat, have for the second time in as many months announced a cease work strike demanding all pending bills and dues be paid as promised by the agency that engaged them.
The road stretch taken up by RSM Infra Project and Kanglasa Construction and Supply (KCS) was subcontracted to local contractors on a pre-defined term and with the promise to clear their bills on a monthly basis depending on the work completion. However, the two agencies have for the second time flouted their terms and failed to clear the same, alleged the local sub-contractors.
It may be noted that the local contractors late last year, days before Christmas, announced a similar strike but were coaxed by the district administration after negotiating a bonus for the local contractors if the dues were not cleared by Christmas.
The local contractors while announcing the strike for the second time today claimed that though bonus payment were made to them, the actual pending dues and the terms were not paid and upheld by the agency that engaged them and therefore announced the closure of all works within Lamjang and Singngat stretch of NH 102B until their grievances are settled.
