Meiraba earns Bulgaria International Badminton Tournament title for third medal this year

IMPHAL, Oct 10: Maisnam Meiraba Luwang who made his senior debut at the Yonex Latvia International Future Series Badminton Tournament with a bang has made India and Manipur proud again as he claimed men's singles title at the Bulgaria International Badminton Tournament today.
Having started his senior stint with a gold medal at the Yonex Latvia International Future Series Badminton tournament in August, qualifier Meiraba pulled off a 21-19, 7-21, 21-14 win over Bulgaria's Deniel Nikolov for the third international medal and the second international gold medal this year.
Meiraba earned his second international medal winning a bronze at the Victor Ukraine International Series Badminton Tournament 2021 which was hosted at Kharkiv, Ukraine in September.
Earlier in the qualifying rounds of the tournament held at Sofia, Bulgaria under the auspices of  the  Badminton World Federation (BWF) & Europe Badminton, Meiraba eased past Sid Palakkal of England 21-11, 21-12 and Ludvig Peter Olsson of Sweden 21-15, 21-16 to secure his place in the main round.
Meiraba then defeated Borko Petrovic of Serbia 21-11, 21-5  and Markus Barth of Norway 21-9, 21-10 in the first and second round matches of the main draw to enter the quarter finals where he saw off Dmitriy Panarin of Kazakhstan 21-17, 21-12.
Meiraba booked his final berth yesterday thrashing Turkey's Emre Lale 21-9, 21-15.
