1st Ukhrul dist level Thang-Ta C'ship held at Hungpung

Ukhrul, Oct 16 : The 1st Ukhrul district Thang-Ta Championship was organised today at Bakshi Indoor Stadium Hungpung, Ukhrul by Hungpung Hao-Kok Than-Ta Academy under the aegis of Ukhrul District Thang-Ta Association.
The inaugural function of the one day championship was graced by ex-MLA, Samuel Risom as the chief guest. Speaking at the occasion, Risom said Thang-Ta is an indigenous martial art of Manipur and has attributed many youths to partake and develop sporting mindset immensely from the past.
"We must uphold and encourage youth to develop their talents in order enable them  to  expose and demonstrate at different level even at international," he said.
Opening the championship, he also appealed participants to compete with true spirit of sportsmanship.
H Premkumar, Thang-Ta grandmaster also attended the function as dignitary.
More than 60 individuals from different Thang-Ta institutes of Ukhrul district participated  in the event.
