KANGPOKPI, Oct 17: A Party Reformation meeting of the District Congress Committee, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi was held today at Blossom Home, Motbung in the presence of Sokho George, General Secretary, MPCC In-charge Sadar Hills, N Kipgen, General Secretary, MPCC, Kim Haokip, General Secretary, AIMCC, In-charge of North-East and Thangminlen Kipgen, Vice President, MPYCC.
Addressing the gathering, Sokho George sought the attention of the executives of the District, Blocks, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress of Sadar Hills and workers, supporters and the general public of the district to be extra cautious of the communal and religious agendas of the present BJP led Central and State Government.
He exhorted the leaders and the gathering to bring back the Congress party in the State in the upcoming 2022 general election for peace, harmony, and people oriented development in the State.
Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip, Co-opted MPCC member 51-Saitu AC also spoke about the change that people of Saitu AC and Kangpokpi district need for better society and value of life while stressing on the importance of people’s participation to defeat communal agenda BJP led Government in the state.
He continued that in the event of BJP gaining power in the coming 2022 general election, the common people of the state will brace to face not just the rise of communalism but also threaten the democratic values of secularism, freedom of speech, diversity and integrity of the State.
Dr Haokip also warned of the surge of RSS-BJP policies  giving importance to Hindus only totally forgetting the pluralistic nature of the country.
"Congress party will give authority and decision making to the common public as it has always been and serve the people but not to rule the people like the present dispensation", he added.     
Zilkhothang Touthang, President, District Congress Committee, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district stressed on the need of strengthening the party starting from the grass root level and encouraged all its supporters to continue working for the party wholeheartedly.
The meeting also unanimously reformed and inducted new executives in Sadar Hills District Congress Committee which will be announced soon after taking due consent from the competent authority.
The meeting was attended by executives and members of District Mahila Congress Committee, District Youth Congress, Sadar Hills along with all executives from 3-AYCs and various other party workers, well-wishers, supporters and people who wish the party to come back to power in 2022.
The meeting also witnessed the launching of the Indian Youth Congress Membership drive led by Thangminlen Kipgen, Vice President of MPYCC, and Zilkhothang Touthang, President of DCC Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi.
Also the logo of Mahila Congress was launched during the meeting.
