IMPHAL, Oct 17 : Owner of The Sangai Express Nishikant Singh Sapam has reaffirmed that he entered electoral politics with a conviction to bring about a positive change in Keishamthong Constituency and Manipur at large.
Addressing a press conference at Nganapithong Mapal  following the inauguration of 4 new offices of Team Nishikant at Thouda Bhabok Leikai and Nganapithong in Keishamthong AC  today, Nishikant continued that he would carry forward his political venture with utmost sincerity and conviction to script a new chapter in the political history of Manipur.
Saying that he used to spend his life peacefully as a businessman without envying even the post of Chief Minister, Nishikant asserted that he lately found his inner calling  in electoral politics to take Manipur to greater heights with Keishamthong as a platform.
"Charity begins at home," he reasoned.
He also said that big changes are happening in his life due to this decision.
Reiterating that he would not make any attempt to recover the money he spent in his political endeavours, the intending candidate contended that it is natural for humans to look for  unethical means if he/she wants to recollect the money spent in election related activities.
"I will neither indulge nor interfere in any contract work too," he assured and maintained that no contractor, however, should take more profit than what is legitimate from any project.
"If he/she attempts to take more than what is legitimate then they are not less than looters and such a person is my  enemy," he added.
Nishikant further stated that he would not let his family members interfere in his political journey.
Maintaining that he would also spend his salary, apart from the Local Area Development Fund, in developmental activities, the intending candidate said that he would arrange  a system for the citizens to know about the money spent from Local Area Development Fund at any point of time.
"Some people see me as a boastful person but I don't have any ill will towards anyone," he added.
Further stating that conquering the hearts of the citizens is imperative to win the election, Nishikant contended that he can win the hearts of those who take him wrongly if there is personal interaction at least once.
"Team Nishikant had only a handful of members at the beginning of my political journey but today our team has thousands of members," he said and added that he would serve those who support other candidates equally.
The programme was also attended by senior citizens from  the two localities.
