67 new cases, no deaths reported Only Ukhrul reports TPR in double digit

IMPHAL, Oct 18 :  Even as the State reported 67 new Covid cases and no fatalities in the last 24 hours, 106 persons recuperated from the novel coronavirus.
This is the lowest  number of new cases on a day in the last six months. Earlier it was 69 which was recorded on October 14.
The positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (12) and other testing centres (54) and are from, excluding the CAPF personnel, Imphal East (15), Imphal West (31), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (8), Churachandpur (1) and Senapati (2).
The daily Covid positivity rate of 4.6 percent updated on Monday, though falling below 5 percent was marginally higher than 4the .4 percent registered yesterday.
Districtwise, only Ukhrul reported Covid positivity rate in double digit (10.7 percent) while Kamjong, which saw a surge in test positivity rate since the past few days, reported no cases.
The 106 persons who  recuperated from the novel coronavirus were discharged from Home Isolation (25), JNIMS  (9) and CCCs (72).
With the addition of 67 new Covid cases, the total caseload has gone up to 1,22,804 but the active cases has gone down to 1,383 as the single day recovery outstripped the new infections in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate has improved to 97.33 percent as compared to 97.30 percent reported on October 16 and 17.
The death toll, on the other hand, remains at 1897 as no deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
On October 17, 882 D type and 149 B-type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities and administered 1367 Covid vaccine doses.
