CADA calls for collective efforts to tackle substance abuse in State

As a part of its continued campaign to uproot the problems of drugs, alcohol and other toxic substances from the State, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in association with Lamboikhul Lamjing Nupi Kanglup organised a public meeting at Lamboikhul in Imphal East today.
A press release issued by CADA stated that the meeting was attended by Moirangthem Momon, president of Lamboikhul Lamjing Nupi Kanglup, Karam Rabei, advisor of CADA Uyumpok unit and Hijam Priyokumar, president, CADA as the presidium members.
Vice president of CADA, Dipanjit Ningthoujam spoke as the resource persons. He stated that there was continuous supply of drugs and other toxic substances even during the restricted time of COVID-19 through Imphal Moreh road and through National Highways and there were reports of seizure of such items by the security forces which is a matter of great concern. Further he stressed on the need to elect eligible representatives in the upcoming general election who will work earnestly to save the society from the clutches of harmful substances.
Speaking on the occasion, Moirangthem Momom said that when one comes under the influence of alcohol and drugs, it leads to chaotic environment thereby disrupting the normal functioning of the respective households.
Therefore to avoid such unhealthy environment, it is highly important that all should work collectively to save the society, especially the youths from falling prey to harmful substance abuse and to help them lead a good life, she added.
