ZRO/ZRA organises 'Home coming' event

CHURACHANDPUR, Oct 18: Zomi Reunification Organization (ZRO/ZRA) on Monday organised a home-coming ceremony for the 18 people who have joined/returned from another group at Tangnuam village, Churachandpur.
A release issued by ZRO/ZRA stated that the ceremony was organised for a total of 18 people, who had sided with Cavin when he rebelled against the leadership on November 10, 2018 or joined him as individual cadres.
Two, out of the 18 people could not join the ceremony because of health issues, it added. All the sixteen people who have joined the ceremony were administered oath and given formal acceptance by KC Smack, secretary GAD and Kenneth, vice president, ZRO.
Ketheos Zomi, secretary external while addressing the event highlighted the current state of affairs within the organisation and the ongoing SoO talks with the Government. He also claimed that the Government has asked them to focus on the anticipated political solution rather than on dissension, as the issue with the dissenting group is already a closed chapter.
The chairman of Zomi Council, John K Ngaihte also hailed both the groups, those who have returned to the mainstream organisation and those who have accepted them with open arms said, "the objective of 9 tribes under ZC for a political settlement should not be lost at any point of time."
