Low count continues with 71 new cases; three deaths recordedUkhrul leads daily TPR with 9.8 pc

IMPHAL, Oct 20 : As COVID-19 cases in Manipur  witness a sharp decline since the past few days, the State reported 71 new Covid cases and 3 deaths in the last 24 hours , according to COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As the 71 new cases were detected from among the 2,081 samples, the daily positivity rate thus registered was 3.4 percent.
Notably, the Covid positivity rate of the last 7 days (October 14 -20) in Manipur stands at 3.84 percent as 607 of 15,782 samples tested positive during the period.
The lowest of 2.5 percent was reported on October 14.
For 2 consecutive days none of the districts reported Covid  positive rate in double digit with Ukhrul on the top of the chart at 9.8 percent.
Ukhrul also recorded the third highest spike in Manipur with 12 new cases, after Imphal East (16) and Imphal West (26). These are the only districts to log new cases in the double digit in the last 24 hours.
The new Covid cases which include 4 CAPF personnel were confirmed at RIMS (9), JNIMS (6) and other testing centres (56) while the positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (26), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (4), Senapati (2), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (1).
The cumulative number of Covid cases has climbed to 1,22,970.
The 3 Covid deaths, on the other hand, were all reported from Imphal East, pushing the death tally of the district to 452.
District wise, Imphal West leads the table with 633 Covid deaths so far.
The cumulative number of Covid deaths is 1,901, according to the Government bulletin.
In the last 24 hours 66 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (17), RIMS (2), JNIMS (6), CCCs (40) and CHICs (1). With this figure, the number of active cases now stand at 1,360  while the recovery rate is 97.35 percent.
On October 19, 605 D type and 125 B -type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities in Manipur. 6,592 Covid vaccine doses were also administered on the same day, according to the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
