Police Commemoration Day observed across the State

JBM/KAK/SPI, Oct 21: Police Commemoration Day 2021 was observed across the State on Thursday to honour the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives while fighting for their Nation.
JIRIBAM
Jiribam District Police Headquarters, District Police Jiribam on Thursday observed 'Police Commemoration Day' to salute the spirits of brave police martyrs who lost their lives on October 21, 1959, when Indian soldiers were attacked by Chinese troops in Ladakh.
It was attended by officers of District Police, CSOs and retired police personnel.
During the event, one minute silence and floral tributes were paid to the brave police officers who had passed away between September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021.
KAKCHING
Police Commemoration Day was also observed at SP Kakhcing Office Complex by Kakching District Police.
At the event, district police and family members led by Victoria Yengkhom, SP Kakching paid floral tributes to 7 personnel of Kakching district who had lost their lives on duty.
Tributes were paid to Late Mayanglambam Chaoba, Late Hueiningshumbam Lukhoi, Late Naorem Kesho, Late Sapam Rajkumar, Late Chongtham Rishikanta, Late Maibam Kantakumar, and Late Mayanglambam Shyamkumar.
SENAPATI
In line with the observance of Police Commemoration Day, Senapati District Police honoured police personnel who were killed/met with unnatural death in the line of duty at Police Reserve Line, Senapati.
Manipur Police on this day read out the names of deceased dating from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021, where two personnel belonging to Senapati district also lost their lives during the period.
Head Constable L Hriini Theo of Senapati Police from Tungjoy village reportedly succumbed to Covid-19 while Lihrii Komou, a VDF personal from Makhan Khullen died in an accident on escort duty.
A parade contingent of district Police honoured the deceased with a shock parade followed by wreath laying by district police officers.
Moreover, as part of the Police Commemoration observance, winners of the “Covid Free Village Competition” organised by Senapati District Police Department were declared and prizes were distributed on Thursday.
The competition was held from June 5 to October 1 and was participated by 172 villages of the district.
Three villages namely, Robve Solephe village under Song Song Sub-division; Zuimi village under Willong Sub-division; and Purul Akutpa village under Purul Sub-division were declared as first, second and third respectively.
It may be mentioned that 3 important criteria were considered during the competition including "Covid Free village", "Covid Vaccination percentage" and "maintenance of Covid Appropriate Behaviours."
