78th Arzi Hukumat Day obs

Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur on Thursday observed the 78th Arzi Hukumat-E-Azad Hind Day at INA Memorial Auditorium, Moirang.
The programme was attended by M Joy Singh, Commissioner, Art and Culture; Ng Uttam Singh, Director, Art & Culture and H Balkrishna Singh, Director, Information & Public Relations as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, M Joy Singh recalled the supreme sacrifices made by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army for India’s freedom.
On this day in 1943, the Azad Hind Fauj formed the provisional Government of Free India with the support of the Japanese Empire to oust the British from Indian soil, he stated.
Emphasizing on the historical significance of INA memorial, M Joy Singh informed that a modernized INA memorial is in the offing while adding that the State Government under Tourism Department is considering reconstruction of INA memorial in the near future which will be a level up from the existing memorial.
The Department of Art and Culture have also submitted a proposal for modernization of the complex, he added.
Citing that the country has made rapid strides during its 75 years of independence, M Joy urged the gathering to wholeheartedly strive for selfless services regardless of one’s profession to further boost development in the country.
Members of INA Yatra North East Circle, ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi workers among others also participated in the observance.
Bike rally, floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, traditional dance performances from Manipur University of Culture as well as songs performance from Sangeet Milan Artist Association, Moirang marked the observance.
