Court sends NSCN (IM) 'agent' to judicial custody

IMPHAL, Oct 21: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West remanded the alleged "secret service agent" of NSCN (IM), Bungdon Romeo Anal (55) to judicial custody till November 4.
Bungdon Romeo Anal, s/o (L) B D Shammi Anal of Thungcheng village was arrested on October 16 from Game Village Quarter by a team of Imphal West commando. He was later handed over to Lamphel Police Station.
With the completion of his 5-day police custody remand period, he was produced before the Court of  Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West by a team of Lamphel police with a prayer of judicial custody remand.
On interrogation, Bungdon Romeo Anal admitted that he is an active member of NSCN (IM) and was inducted as an overground secret service agent by one late TS Wangdam, then outfit's regional guard commander of Khumi region (Chandel) in 1987, submitted the IO.
He further admitted that he has been providing information/data of Indian security personnel movement and other activities to his commander, the IO submitted.
He also revealed that he has been working under one Thumpa Turiim who is a member of steering committee of the outfit presently staying at camp Hebron and has been in close contact with self styled Deputy Kilonsers Belhuwng and Angshel who are staying at camp Hebron, the IO submitted.
Besides these, Bungdon Romeo Anal has further revealed that he had shared video clips of speeches of (L) Athuan Abonmai (who was killed by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres on September 22) to Thumpa Turiim, the IO added.
The IO further submitted that the accused is suspected to be indirectly involved in the killing of Athuan Abonmai in collusion with other active members/leaders of NSCN (IM) and moreover he has also misguided and instigated village chiefs and CSO leaders to ban Chief Minister's "Go to Hill Mission" by spreading false propaganda.
The Court on perusal of case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded Bungdon Romeo Anal to judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
