COVID-19 : State adds 81 new coronavirus cases, 1 death in 24 hours

IMPHAL, Oct 21 : Manipur saw a single-day rise of 81 new coronavirus infections and 1 death in the last 24 hours, taking the State tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,23,051.
The new Covid cases were confirmed at RIMS (8), JNIMS (18) and other testing centres (55) and are from  Imphal East (14), Imphal West (42), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (11), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (1), Senapati (1), Kamjong (1) and Tengnoupal (1).
The daily positivity rate has, on the other hand, rose marginally to 4.6 percent as compared to 3.4 percent on  Wednesday. This, however, is the eighth day that the daily positivity rate fell below 5 percent consecutively.
Altogether 1,762 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
District wise, Tengnoupal topped the Covid positive rate with 14.3 percent and it is followed by Kamjong (10 percent) and Kakching (9.5 percent).
The only Covid fatality from Imphal East was not vaccinated against COVID-19.
The cumulative number of deaths now stands at 1,905.
Today, another 94 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (35), RIMS (2), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (52).
The active cases is 1,346.
On October 20, 861 D-type and 151 B-type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities  in Manipur and administered 5,764 Covid vaccine doses.
