IMPHAL, Oct 21
The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has urged the Education Minister and one high ranking Government official to return the money they have allegedly collected from the candidates who applied for different posts at the State Education Department within this month.
A press release issued by charge d affairs, publicity and propaganda of PREPAK Leibak Ngaaakpa Luwang urged all concerned to take the matter seriously.
Claiming that a huge amount of money has been collected from the candidates who are applying for Graduate Teachers and teaching, non teaching and Assistant Professors at Dhanamanjuri University, the outfit claimed that the State Education Department is openly engaging in corrupt practises through appointment of staff on contractual or temporary basis instead of framing a proper recruitment and transfer policy.
Contending that the victims of such adhocism are the youths of the State, it claimed that there  are no cases of corruption in recruitment processes in other North Eastern States.
The PREPAK also stated that they are prepared to take stern actions against those who are degrading the education sector of Manipur, if necessary.
Further claiming that the leaders of the State are not checking the blatant misuse of power by the bureaucrats, it added that PREPAK will now keep a close eye on the education sector of the State.
Contending that the role of education is not only to get jobs but also to mould the youth as job providers so that they could contribute in the welfare of the society, the PREPAK  pointed out the need  to improve the education system of Manipur to be at par with that of developed Nations.
