Governor La Ganesan visited Thoubal and Kakching district today to acquaint with the people and know the culture and tradition of the area.
In connection with the Governor’s visit, Thoubal and Kakching District Administrations organised a function at the office complex of Thoubal Deputy Commissioner.
Thoubal DC A Subhas Singh and Kakching DC D Gangmei made power point presentations of the activities and achievements taken up by the Thoubal and Kakching District Administrations respectively.
At the function, the Governor greeted the people in local language and urged them to make a victory sign as a habit for some time to show fellow people that he or she has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Saying that people can meet each other if they made the sign without any hesitation, La Ganesan appealed to those who are yet to be vaccinated to go for get Covid vaccination without hesitation.
The Government is making relentless efforts to vaccinate all the eligible population against COVID-19, he said and sought cooperation from the general public to return to normalcy.
Stressing on the various aspects of the health department, the Governor stated that cleanliness is the most important thing in maintaining good health.
Talking about the achievement of open defecation free, the Governor urged the stakeholders to work towards achieving the feat not only in the city areas but also at all the districts of the State.
Appreciating the work of the Police Department in fighting against smuggling of illegal products in the State, the Governor told the Police personnel to report the number of cases they have taken up to show their activities in detail.
La Ganesan further added that all the District Level Officers should put effort to keep the whole district clean and green.
An interaction session with District Level Officers, Civil Society Organisations, entrepreneurs and students was also conducted during the gathering.
After hearing the suggestions and demands put up during the session by the CSOs and the students, the Governor assured that he will try to fulfil the demands as far as possible.
M Tombimacha Singh, National Teacher Awardee also attended the programme.
Later, the Governor visited Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Thoubal District and offered floral tributes to the heroes of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. From there, he went  to Kakching Garden.
