Senapati, Oct 23: Former Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister N Kayisii on Saturday inaugurated a Zeliangrong Morung at Makuilongdi village in Senapati district.
Speaking on the occasion, D Disuraibou, chairman Makuilongdi Village Council welcomed the delegates and said, "Not only taking up developmental projects but physically visiting the area and providing all necessities was a blessing for the people."
N Lokho, convenor Tadubi Circle Youth Forum mentioned that the forum was voluntarily formed in order to bring unity and a consensus candidate for the welfare of the people while adding that the main aim of the forum was to bring social changes, development and employment.
The youth from Mao had reportedly held a meeting with Zeliangrong brothers and discussed how to bring unity, good relationships among different tribes and how to proceed in future.
The forum had also invited all youth presidents and secretaries to come at the proposed sit together in Makhan Centre.
Elder from the 49-Tadubi Assembly Constituency expressed gratitude for bringing development to the region and for the concern shown by the MLA. They also lauded the former Minister for his remarkable developmental projects undertaken in the region.
N Kayisii, MLA 49-Tadubi AC stated that the Zeliangrong Morung was constructed with the assistance of Y Joykumar, Deputy CM, who could not come to the spot as he had other engagements.
While stating that Makuilongdi is an ancient village for the Zeliangrong tribe, the MLA stressed on the need to preserve one’s culture and tradition as a Naga.
He also lauded the villagers for the grand construction and said that he had reportedly visited almost all villages under the constituency and seen villages like Yangkhullen and Makuilongdi preserving the age-old traditions of the forefathers till now.
The former Minister expressed his regret that even after serving as a Minister in the State Government for 3 years he still had many things left to do as all his plans to bring change and development were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kayisii stressed on the importance of unity between all the different communities and stated that he has tried over the years to reach out to all villages under the  constituency to understand their grievances irrespective of their origin.
Highlighting his tight schedule after being appointed as president of NPP Manipur State, the former Minister stated that about 35-40 candidates would be in the fray for the coming Assembly Election as according to a decision of the State executives.
E Fuidi, chairman Zeme Naga Council, Senapati while delivering the vote of thanks enlightened the gathering on the various developmental projects undertaken in the region including construction of IVR from Makuilongdi to Kanem village, hanging bridge to paddy field and Morung.
Headmen from different Mao villages, representatives from Tadubi Circle Youth Forum, Makhan Union, Oklong areas and CSO leaders took part in the event.
Later, a tree plantation programme was also held.
