Locals protest

THOUBAL, Oct 23 : The locals of Heirok part II staged a sit-in today against the assault on two individuals of the locality by masked goons.
According to report received by the media, the two victims, Thokchom Sunny Dilon (33), s/o th Ibochouba and Thokchom Sanathoi (33), s/o Th Lakpati of Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai  were returning home yesterday evening when they were assaulted by more than 30 masked goons at Heirok part II Mayai Leikai Pujari Chithek.
The families of the victims have also raised allegations that the said masked goons had gone inside the residence of the ex-MLA and fired shots when locals tried to apprehend them.
One of the women participating in the sit-in also alleged that the goons had been harrassing people in front of the residence of the ex-MLA and added that the locals have been terrified to travel on the said stretch of road.
