India reports 20,799 new Covid cases

NEW DELHI, Oct 4: India has reported 20,799 new Covid-19 cases, and 180 deaths in a span of 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Monday. The current recovery rate is 97.89%, highest since March 2020 it stated.
With a decline of 6,099 active cases, the country's active case load stands at 2,64,458 the ministry data showed. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.78%
The death toll has further climbed to 44,89,97 with 180 daily fatalities, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
The recovery of 26,718 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,31,21,247.
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 2.10 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for the last 35 days, according to the ministry data.
The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 1.63 per cent. It has been below 3 per cent for the last 101 days, the ministry said.
With the administration of 23,46,176 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 90.79 Cr (90,79,32,861) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 88,05,668 sessions
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7 last year, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 last year.
India recorded two crore cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
