YUC, SFC emerge group winners in IW Second Division Football League

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : YUC, Irom Meijrao and SFC, Tera emerged Group A and B winners in the 7 team L Sangita Memorial Second Division Football League Tournament organised by Imphal West District Football Association at PAMYAL ground, Patsoi.
The two teams will face off one another on November 28 for a place in the first division.
In the last Group A league match of the tournament staged today, YUC demolished THAU, Thangmeiband 8-0 to earn the pole position of the group.
Sh Pele took the centre stage in this lopsided encounter scoring thrice (8', 13' and 23') after L Bidyananda opened the floodgate early in the first minute.
Kh Birjit also netted twice (14', 39') as Th Sileinganba and K Surrendra managed a goal each in the 35th and the 56th minute respectively and complete the 8-0 demolition of the Thangmeiband side.
Meanwhile, SFC thumped BMSC, Taobungkhok 3-1 to finish on top of Group B which consists of three teams.
The first half ended goalless despite the two sides getting few close chances but Th Chinglemba handed SFC the lead in the 49th minute before N Roshan and James took their turns to add a goal each in the 73rd and the 79th minute.
Before the match for promotion to the higher division, Group A's fourth placed team, THAU will take on Group B's third placed team, BMSC in a match whose winners will avoid relegation and losers will be relegated to the 3rd Division.
Imphal United FC overwhelmed GYC 4-0
Meanwhile, Imphal United FC routed GYC, Ghari 4-0 in the ongoing 4th Mani Sharma Memorial 3rd Division Football League tournament organised at the same venue.
Imphal United FC started slowly and took a 1-0 first lead with Ronendro finding the target in the 34th minute. Alex (45') then doubled the lead before Jetly struck a brace (58' and 80')  to complete the 4-0 rout.
