YOSC edge St Anthony 57-56 as 24th Sr State Basketball Championship commences

IMPHAL, Nov 28 : YOSC held their nerves to beat St Anthony 57-56 in a keenly contested opening match  (Sr men's  Group A) of the  24th Senior State Basketball Championship here at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.
In all, twelve men's teams drawn in three groups and three women's teams are participating in this championship organised by Manipur Basketball Association.
St Anthony's John scored the highest 25 points in this match but his effort went in vain as Tarun (13), Ketan (8), Victor (9), Sachi (7), Naocha (10) and Leishemba (10) made a concerted effort to help YOSC win the game 57-56.
Job (9), Christopher (10), Simon (8), Yursem (2) and Rix (2) also scored for St Anthony.
Later in the second match (Group A), YPHU downed Home Coming Club 65-40 riding on Tutu shone with 20 points.
Marshal (11), Akash (9), Tansan (8), Lanchenba (7), Borish (6), Nikash (2) and Bobychand (2) also contributed to YPHU's tally as Lalropuia (21) topscored for Home Coming Club.
Later in the Group B league match, ESU beat WAL Club 68-44. SRWC too opened up their winning account in the Group C competition with a comfortable 84-57 win over CYLC.
